THE Wallabies have suffered a serious blow ahead of Sunday morning's (EDT) Test against England, with lock Rob Simmons ruled out with injury.

Simmons slipped at training while doing shuttle sprints and re-injured the left knee he had strained against the All Blacks two weeks ago.

Ewen McKenzie has started the mind games ahead of the Wallabies opening clash of the Spring tour against England, saying all the pressure is on the hosts.

The second-rower is expected to miss at least two Tests, although he will remain with the squad, while Sitaleki Timani is expected to come into the starting side at lock alongside James Horwill.

The medial strain was assessed on Wednesday night (EDT) and it was discovered Simmons had sustained similar damage to that in his last game, which had kept him in doubt for the looming England match before he recovered.

The freak accident has again prevented Simmons from making his debut in a Test match at Twickenham.

While he played against the Barbarians at the ground two years ago, injury and suspension have robbed him from playing against England at the famous venue.

Simmons has been a rock in defence and calls some of the lineouts, so his absence will put enormous pressure on Australia.
