A-League preview R4: Ono to fire

Tara Rushton and Mark Rudan preview the Friday night blockbuster between Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United.

Fox Sports football expert Mark Rudan previews the A-League round four action and believes Shinji Ono's genius will be on display again.

Wanderers v Adelaide

I thought Ono was fantastic in the derby last week, he set up the first goal for La Rocca by putting it right on his head - the Italian couldn't really miss from there - and the second goal (scored by Ono) was just pure genius. A master class by Shinji Ono and I'm expecting more of the same against Adelaide.

Adelaide are keeping the ball superbly under Josep Gombau but they really need to work on the attacking third. They had a lot of possession against the Mariners but didn't really look like scoring. They're controlling games so if they can get their front third right there's every reason to believe they can win games.

Perth v Sydney FC

It hasn't been a great start for Sydney FC and there's a few injury clouds hanging over them too. It's a testing time for Frank Farina and his side but I'm sure they would have worked hard this week on the training track and they'll go to Perth thinking they can snatch the points. Alessandro Del Piero has been named for Sydney FC, it goes without saying that that's a huge boost for them.

Mariners v Newcastle

It's been 406 minutes since the Jets last scored, if you include last season, so Emile Heskey's return couldn't have come at a better time. Heskey is their marquee player and he adds a dimension to Newcastle's attack, particularly with his ability to hold up the ball. I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings.

Tara Rushton and Mark Rudan preview a huge Super Saturday with Perth Glory hosting the struggling Sydney FC and the anticipated F3 derby.

Roar v Heart

I wouldn't think John Aloisi is under pressure yet. It is his second year in the A-League and I think last year he learnt a lot from mistakes he made and good things he did. They're playing a different type of game - much more on the counter attack, so they're a work in progress - I think they've still got a bit of time yet.

For the Roar, they've looked really good going forward, particularly out wide where Franjic and Stefanutto have been superb. They've got a young side and Mike Mulvey has said they've got a no excuses policy, so we'll see how that pans out.

Tara Rushton and Mark Rudan preview the clash between Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Heart.

Victory v Phoenix

You can't replace Ange Postecoglou - he's been one of the best coaches in the A-League. Kevin Muscat's going to stamp his own style on the squad and the time is right for him. He's waited a long time for this and I'm looking to see how he progresses. Obviously Musky had a fair bit of fire about him as a player and we play a passionate game, so if anything I'd tell him to be himself. Ange is his own man and Musky is too. There's no reason he can't show the same passion on the sideline as he did as a player.

Tara Rushton and Mark Rudan preview a rare Monday night fixture that features Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix.
