MITCHELL Johnson is returning to Australia early from the one-day international tour of India in the biggest hint yet he's likely to figure in the upcoming Ashes series.
The 31-year-old, who has been one of the few shining lights in India with the ball in a series dominated by the bat, will miss the decider on Sunday morning (EDT) in Bangalore.
After missing out on the Ashes tour to England earlier this year, Johnson has burst back onto the scene with a series of impressive ODI performances, bowling quick and accurate while also taking wickets.
He is considered a big chance to feature in a pace battery likely to include Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris and perhaps Josh Hazlewood for the first Test at the Gabba on November 21.
Australia and India are currently locked at 2-2 in the best-of-seven ODI series with two matches washed out.
