CHAMPION jockey Jimmy Cassidy has ridden his 100th Group 1 winner when he saluted in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes aboard star Sydney colt Zoustar.
A very emotional Cassidy teared up in the jockeys' room after the race when the magnitude of his achievement began to sink in.
"I'm very honoured. I take a lot of satisfaction from the achievement. But I want to thank my family. It's never a one-man band. It's a team effort," Cassidy said.
Cassidy said he was privileged to be in the company of Roy Higgins and George Moore.
Some of the 50-year-old's achievements include riding Kiwi from last into the straight to win the 1983 Melbourne Cup.
He won his second Melbourne Cup in 1997 aboard Might And Power whom he also rode to victory in the following year's Cox Plate.

The win confirmed Zoustar's status as the best sprinter in his age group with an easy win.
Zoustar settled back and sat wide but ran over the top of his rivals with 300m to go.
Zoustar was sold this week to Widden Stud for a deal reported to be $14 million.
His trainer Waller said Zoustar showed just why he is a superstar with the win.
"He had to put up with a lot this week as they checked him out before the sale. He was just so professional about it," Waller said.
Zoustar's breeder and part-owner Sheriff Iskander fainted with 100m to go when the galloper dashed clear. Zoustar defeated Not Listenin'tome and Lion Of Belfort.
