JOHN Sergeant's lightly-raced, Kiwi-bred filly Kirramosa has rocketed into VRC Oaks favouritism with a stunning last to first performance to win the Wakeful Stakes.

After a hot tempo set up by Star Fashion, Kirramosa ($9) produced a withering run with Tommy Berry aboard to score by a length-and-a-quarter from favourite May's Dream, with Solicit in third place.

Sergeant was not planning to run the daughter of Alamosa before The Oaks but fought that she was "bucking" during the week and he felt she needed a run.

"We were just going to ride her cold today with The Oaks on Thursday, but she has finished it very strongly," Sergeant said.

"At the end of last week she was jumping out of her skin and probably too well, so you can't have her going into The Oaks without having the distance.

"We changed our tack and it worked today.

"She has always shown ability, she has had that bit of class and boomed since she went to Randwick."

Nash Rawiller will ride Kirramosa in The Oaks, where she will firmed from $8 into $3.50 favouritism. May's Dream has drifted from $3.20 to $4.40.
