AS SHE tries to win Australia's biggest triathlon for the first time, Olympian Emma Moffatt has revealed she will attempt to become the first triathlete in history to win world titles over the Olympic and half ironman distances in the same year and just a week apart.

Moffatt, in Noosa preparing for Sunday's annual race, which this year boasts more than 7000 entrants, has confirmed the Olympic world crown, decided by a series of races, and the world 70.3 half ironman crown are on her 2014 agenda.

Australians Craig Alexander and Mel Hauschildt and triathlon legend Simon Lessing are the only athletes to have won two major world triathlon crowns in the same year.

Alexander won the world 70.3 crown and Hawaii ironman in 2011, Hauschilt won the world long distance and 70.3 titles in 2013, with British athlete Lessing claiming the Olympic distance and world long-course mantles in 1995.

Now Moffatt will attempt to match this feat by targeting the Olympic distance and 70.3 world championships next year.

Both races will follow her attempt to match old training partner Emma Snowsill's feat in winning a Commonwealth Games gold for Australia in Scotland in July.

"That's the big priority," said Moffatt, who has already qualified for the Commonwealth Games, with today's famed Noosa Triathlon her final race for the year.

"Then the world 70.3 is on a week after the final race of the World Series and at this stage I'd love to do both. I'd really like to have a shot at it."

Moffatt said it is likely she would contest the Geelong leg of the world 70.3 series in February in a bid to qualify herself a spot in the field to contest the world 70.3 championships in Canada on September 7.

The finale of the world series, which determines the Olympic distance world titleholder for elite men and women, will be raced in Canada a week earlier.

Moffatt faces stiff opposition in the Noosa triathlon from the women hoping to race with her at next years Commonwealth Games, including London Olympian Emma Jackson and former world junior champion Ashleigh Gentle.
