ENGLISH stayer Ruscello raced his way into the Melbourne Cup with an all-the-way victory in the Lexus Stakes (2500m), but his connections aren't likely to take up the spot.
His trainer Ed Walker said Ruscello was a four-year-old in northern hemisphere time and it could be a bit early for him.
Ruscello is owned by OTI, which is trying to get Ibicenco into the Melbourne Cup who is 25th in the order of entry.

OTI manager Terry Henderson said their preference was for Ibicenco to run in the Melbourne Cup. Kelinni who finished 10th won't run in the Melbourne Cup.
Ruscello defied the challenge of Let's Make Adeal, who finished second and also Garud, who looked likely to win but raced greenly.
Walker said he was surprised when Kerrin McEvoy took Ruscello to the lead in the early stages.
